I am writing a book

someday. When I have an endless amount of time I am writing a book. The Adventures of a Medical Social Worker. It's ok. I know it sounds so exciting that you are just on the edge of your seat waiting for it to come out.
I just want to say that if I ever say my job is "dull" or "boring"- please snap me back to reality!

Well- some families just have poor dynamics and take the time during family meetings to bring out their issues with eachother rather than to help the patient. After todays events I have decided to add referee to my resume. After breaking up a fight between the patients (ADULT) children and her (ADULT) grandson I have realized that some people will never know what it is like to be selfless and focus on the needs of others.
Rather than discussing who would be willing to take care of the patient, the children decided to throw out more "F-bombs" than I have heard in my life time and stab eachother with hurtful comments trying to adgitate one another... well they both succeeded. Even though I was being a typical social worker saying "lets just take a breath"- "ok we are here for__, to discuss her care,so lets focus on her." that didn't help - they shouted over me, then the son stood up to walk out and jab another comment from the sister...and that was it.. her brother picked up her cane and started beating her with it...only to have grandson stand up and shout death threats and start throwing punches at his uncle (patients son). AHH.. the day in the life of a social worker. Praise God that no one was seriously injured.
