Wonderful Weekend away

Well we finally made the trip up to Iowa to see my family. It was a great weekend! I didnt get to take as many pictures The first stop was my Dad's house where we dropped off our misbehaving dog(more on that later).. and visited with my childhood neighbors. The second visit was to my grandmothers house (above) Isn't she the cutest grandma? Love her. We had a nice visit with her and ofcourse because she is grandma she made us something nice to eat. She was tickled to finally meet the girls. It was a wonderful sight! The next and final stop was my sisters house in Urbandale so we could meet Jillian, my sister Jessi's little girl (she is only one month older than the girls).

My sister just moved this summer so we had not been to her house, Brian said "how will we know it is her house." I said " well that looks like my brother in law's truck and I am going to pull in the drive way and honk and if you see 4 kids jumping up and down through the window, we are at the right place" Haha. Sure enough when I honked I saw 4 little kids jumping up and down looking out the window.

We had a great time! My sisters baby sat and Brian and I went on a much needed date on Saturday night. We went to see "The Lovely Bones." Great movie, better book but the movie does follow the book pretty closely.

What a great weekend. I cannot wait to go back this spring. It was so great to see my family. I have not seen them for so long. My sister Jessi had not met the twins yet and I had not met Jillian. Mandy's kids had only seen pictures as well as Jessi's older two so it was great. We all had dinner , my dad was there, it was a nice time just hang out and be a family. The kids have all changed so much. Andi has really grown...wish I had a picture... Cohan has this new little voice. Gabi is all GIRL. she likes to dress up so she changed her outfit like ten times when I was there. Mariana is the oldest and ofcourse has that 8 year old knowledge of everything in life. Jillian was just an adorbale baby with the cutest chunky legs.

We had our well checks today! These tiny little babies that are approx 4lbs 9 oz in this picture... are now 11lbs!!!! I felt famous today when we went to the doctors office because we are already famous because everyone one loves the girls... (twin mom's I bet you feel the same way 1 baby people oooh and ahh... 2 babies people squeel and follow and go nuts) the nurses in the office all remember us. But today was triumphant for me...the nurse was asking the basic questions and they said "what kind of formula do you use?" then she said... never mind " you are the amazing twin mom that still breastfeeds"... me amazing?! ok my ego is now back down to the normal size...just had to brag a little because I am proud of myself because normally... I do not handle stress well but I feel like a ROCK STAR as a mother. I feel like it is the one thing I am good at in life. Finally! something I am good at that comes naturally. Love my sweet 11 lb babies that finally have the same head circumference! HA!!

diaper bag debate

I already have this diaperbag. Brian works with a gal that is also a sales rep for this company: JU JU BE diaper bags. When she found out we were having twins she sent a catalog home with Brian and had me pick out any diaper bag. I was told or maybe I read somewhere that with twins I would need "a very large" diaper bag. This was the biggest in the catalog and though I wasn't in love with the print I picked it because it wasn't as feminine as the print I really wanted. I am very very thankful for this diaper bag because it was FREE. It usually retails for $180! So I am very very thankful. We use it to take to the baby sitters everyday however it is too bulky and awkward to carry if I was to take it out for everyday use or shopping or something like that. I bought another diaper bag that is actually a carryon by Mag bag. It is very cute but also difficult and awkward to carry when you have a carseat on each arm. So I was looking at another twin mom's blog and she had suggested a back pack so I was looking through JU JU BE's website and found this lovely diaper bag that I am coveting at this very moment. I really like this diaper bag. Isn't it cute?

I feel that I MUST have this diaper bag. She can be worn as a back pack or the center strap can be made longer and you can carry it on your shoulder and it is like a purse. So I was telling the husband that I really would like this diaper bag... maybe for my birthday. I feel it would be handy and since the girls are getting bigger I could carry it and both carseat carriers comfortably and it would be fabulous. The husband then proceeds to tell me that "NO"- I do not need this diaper bag because I already have two diaper bags and we do not need more "junk" in our house etc etc...( we have decided to declutter and get rid of lots of stuff because our basement is overflowing with junk" He tells me that it is silly of me to want something that I already have and that is why we have so much stuff is because I always buy silly things that I already have two of! BOO!!!! I just happen to love bags and purses (Coach is my fav) anyway... I don't smoke I don't do drugs, I don't buy a lot of clothes or anything anymore.... my vice is bags and purses because everyone has their "thing" that they like. Bags and purses are my thing... some women enjoy purses and shoes, some women like perfume some women like expensive restaurants or jewelry..mine just happens to be bags and purses. So I am crushed that he told me I could not have this fabulous bag...but I honestly think that I will eventually buy it for myself. I will probably not even ask for anything for my birthday now because there is nothing I want. Clothes are not fun anymore because I am not in my normal size yet and shoes...well my feet also grew while I was prego so this is my vice.... I know it isn't good to go against the husband but in my defense he went out and bought an expensive flat screen tv when we had a regular tv that was just fine so I think I can justify a diaperbag that is way way cheaper than a tv. That is my rant... What is your "thing"? Is it shoes, clothes, purses, food, jewelry... do tell.

4 months!

Can you believe these little babes are 4 months old?? Where has the time gone?
Well here we are. The girls turn 4 months old tomorrow (Monday). It seems like just the other day I was stressing about bringing them home, then they were just barely 5 lbs! Now I am guessing they are around 10lbs, we will find out at their well check this week. I can't believe how fast time is flying! They are starting to get little personalities. Joelle (purple) is always smiling. Lillian (pink) will smile but she is also very serious. Lillian rolled over about two weeks ago but she hasn't done it since and Joelle is on her way, she gets soo close!
I have officially surpassed my breastfeeding goal of 3 months, now I would really like to go to 6 months or more but I am just taking it month by month right now. We shall see how long I can go. It is a lot of work with twins and working and everything else I have going on but I have to say I am proud of myself for sticking with it this long.

It has been below zero here so I told Brian to bundle up the girls to take them to the sitter so they have their fleece outfits on, a blanket, their hats, carseat covers, then a blanket on top, I trained him well!

I love hairbows and headbands! The headbands are from their grandma for Christmas and the hairbows are from their stockings. Ofcourse Lillian is in Pink and Joelle is in Purple. I love having girls!

This is something new I have added to the girls room. It is from UPPERCASE LIVING. I love it I think it looks adorable in their room. They are so lucky to have such an awesome nursery. I must say if I was a little girl I would love it :)
